Autonomous Cars For Racing
Autonomous Cars For Racing
By 2020, it is expected that around 10,000,000 driverless cars will be on the roads. This is both incredible and terrifying! It’s a fact that driverless cars, or autonomous cars as they are also called, will bring many benefits. Autonomous vehicles could reduce traffic, emissions and improve safety. Driverless cars could not only become commonplace, but also introduced to the racing world.
Will autonomous race be interesting?
Would motor racing enthusiasts want autonomous cars to be part of the sport? Many fans are drawn to motor racing because they enjoy cheering for the driver and his team during championship season. When you remove the driver from the equation, the focus becomes the way each racing car performs.
Autonomous racing is not impossible to achieve in the near future, with manufacturers constantly competing for the top spot in motorsport and technology changing so rapidly. It would be an excellent way to test technology, increase public confidence and encourage improvements.
The driverless car is a great benefit in racing because if it crashes, the only thing that will be damaged is the car and not the person driving. The sport could be made faster and more exciting.

Altering the appearance of a racing vehicle
If they were also designed to be driverless, racing cars would look quite different. Would the public love the new shapes and lines as much?
We reimagined the look of six famous racing cars if they had no driver. Many of the features you’d expect to see in a car were removed because they would no longer be required. The windscreen, steering wheel, seat, and even door were removed, and the design makes the cars appear more aerodynamic. As racing cars need to reach high speeds, their tyres are different than those on road vehicles. The tyres of an autonomous racing vehicle would also be different, with a sleeker and more modern design.
